Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am 22 years old and I am from Romania. I am from Bucharest, the capital. I came to the UK in 2009.
Where do you live now?
I live in Liverpool with my three children and my boyfriend. We live in a two-bedroom house. It is very crowded but if we want a bigger house we would have to pay more. Sometimes my boyfriend goes to work. He works in a factory. But it’s not all the time – just when they call and tell him there is work. Life is still a bit hard but not like it was in Romania.
He is my first boyfriend and my last one. He is the father of my children. But I don’t need to marry him. In my country there’s no need to marry with a ring or something like that. You just get a boyfriend and after that you say: ‘He’s my husband.’
Are you worried about Britain leaving the EU?
What can I say? I was worried. But now we just have to see what happens next. Everyone from Romania is the same, people from all the countries. We are all waiting to see what will happen.
What do you do in your spare time?
I like to listen to music. Sometimes when I get fed up I listen to it. I like Romanian rock music. One of my favourite artists is Dani Mocanu, who is very famous in Romania.
Do you like any British rock music?
No, because I can understand Romanian music and learn the words quickly.
But your English is very good too!
I learnt a little bit from the school before I came to England. But now after six years my English is OK. I learn English just listening and talking to customers. I can also speak Spanish and a little bit of Italian.
What makes you sad?
It makes me sad when I have no money to buy nappies or baby milk or food, or I can’t pay the rent.

What makes you happy?
When I see everything is all right. When I have everything for my children.
What do you hope for in the future?
I want my children to be good, to grow up and have proper jobs, not like me, selling magazines. To have a good life, not like the one we have now. And one day I would like to do something else other than sell the magazine. Cleaning or cooking or something like that.
Are you a good cook?
I can’t say yes. When I cook at home my boyfriend says it’s all right. So I like to cook, but I don’t know if other people would like it.
Does your boyfriend cook?
No, he doesn’t cook, but he does help with the children and the cleaning. He’s a good boyfriend.
Do you have a message for your customers?
Thank you very much to everyone who buys the magazine. I am happy when people come and have a talk with me. They ask me how I am and about my children. That’s nice – when they stay and talk to me.
