September Swansong: A look back on the month’s street paper covers

September has been and gone, and we’ll be decking the halls for Christmas before we know it!

The past month has brought another bunch of colourful, creative and eye-catching street paper covers to the INSP network.

These covers have been gracing the streets in 35 countries worldwide, and have sold thousands of copies to help give a hand up to the 10,000 vendors selling street papers at any one time.

Enjoy our round-up of the best of September’s covers…

Cover Highlights:

Pretty in pink! Lots of love for the rosy colour this month across the network. Faktum‘s cover story was a feature with Swedish Director Ruben Östlund, winner of L’Palme d’Or at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival for his film The Square. The Big Issue Australia looked back on the life and times of Sir Elton John ahead of his sold-out Australian tour. And Big Issue North spoke to recently-reformed British rock band Black Grape.

There’s been plenty to celebrate across the network this month. StreetWise marked their Silver Anniversary with a 25th Birthday special. The Big Issue toasted to their 26th Birthday (or should that be 25+1 Birthday?) with a celebratory edition. And Street Sense launched a sleek new look for their paper and brand.

Lots of topical issues made their way to the covers of street papers during September too. Liceulice‘s edition was dedicated to old people and the conditions in which they live in Serbia. At the other end of the age spectrum, Apropos‘ cover story was a heartwarming interview with a pediatric psychiatrist about reading “Between the Lines”. And Asphalt looked at “The Bitter Truth” about homelessness and the social problems facing Germany as the national election approached.

October is already here – and we can’t wait to see what spooky covers appear on the streets as Halloween approaches! Look out for our next round up at the end of the month. Take a look back at some of our former cover highlights here.
