Hard-hitting, striking… phizz-whizzing: it’s June’s street paper covers

Only a couple of weeks on from the INSP Awards ceremony – which saw us celebrate the best street paper covers of the last year, as well as many more amazing achievements – we’ve got a whole new set of creative front pages to share.

We find Straatnieuws in similarly celebratory mood, with a cover marking the awards they give to homeless people to acknowledge their achievements.

The Big Issue UK, meanwhile, adapted Yanis Varoufakis’ address to the Global Street Paper Summit for a timely cover ahead of the shock UK Brexit vote, which saw the country choose to leave the EU. (Watch the video here.)

StreetWise recognised the first anniversary of their EatWise column, which sees vendors review restaurants around their pitch. Supported by a grant from the band Phish’s Waterwheel foundation, the column also gives vendors the chance to share a little about themselves.

Ahead of the release of Steven Spielberg’s take on The BFG, The Big Issue Australia produced a phizz-whizzing, jumpsquiffling, gloriumptious look at the wonderful world of Roald Dahl.

The front of Scarp de’ tenis features a gripping story of how one mafia suspect used flowers as a front for his drug business. The twisty tale was sourced through INSP’s News Service partnership with Reuters.

Megaphone spoke to Canadian academic, science broadcaster and environmental activist David Suzuki, and Megaphon‘s pig-tailed cover star encourages us to get ‘real naughty’!

L’Itinéraire‘s cover feature about prostitution came from a suggestion from one of their vendors – herself a former sex worker. Jo wrote about her experiences for the issue.

Faktum‘s June cover star is Swedish actress and comedian Ulla Skoog, who was the voice of Sadness in the Swedish version of Pixar’s Inside Out and is a regular on popular Swedish TV programme Saltön.
