Street papers provide a much needed source of income for vendors all year round, and summertime is no exception. The hot weather can bring about its own share of problems for vendors around the world, so be sure to continue picking up a copy of the latest edition from your local vendor.
Here’s our round-up of the bold, bright and beautiful covers being sold on the streets this July.
Cover Highlights:
We welcomed Peruvian street paper Peatón to the network, and their colourful inaugural edition hit the streets for the first time. You can read the full story of the launch of Peatón here. Draussenseiter reflected on reaching 200 issues with a celebratory 201st edition. And Big Issue North and The Big Issue Australia marked 50 years since man landed on the moon with some out-of-this-world cover stories.
It’s not just Peatón who have made a splash with colour on street paper covers this month. Liceulice was in bloom with a flowery front page about happiness. The Big Issue South Africa marked Mandela Day with an edition about remarkable women with a connection to the late South African President. And The Curbside Chronicle designed a vivid cover to head up their Affordable Housing issue.
Some impressive illustrations have also graced street paper front pages during July. marie‘s beautiful and busy cover celebrated the World Gymnaestrada coming to Austria. StreetWise made a splash looking at cycling in Chicago and what is being done to make biking more accessible in the city. And Surprise went sky high with their fiction edition, full of bold black, white and blue illustrations.
