Summer cover-lovin’: our round-up of July’s covers

The countdown to this year’s Global Street Paper Summit is well and truly on, and here at INSP we are busier than ever preparing to take over Manchester for the week! But that doesn’t stop us taking a break to admire the impressive array of covers our network has produced this month.

We’ve rounded up some of the top highlights from July that have been shared with us. And with the INSP Awards now less than a month away, be sure to check out the nominees in the 2017 Best Cover category too. The finalists will be announced very soon – watch this space!

Some cracking illustrations have made for bold and bright covers this month. Liceulice‘s theme was identity, brought to life with some quirky thumbprint characters. L’itinéraire looked to the future to imagine what Montréal will look like in years to come, and where marginalised people will fit into society. And StreetWise left us hungry for more with their Taste of Chicago edition, which doubled up as a guide to the downtown street fest.

Street papers never shy away from talking about inequalities in their issues. StreetWise took a look at disability inclusion in the workplace in another of their cover stories. Street Sense investigated “The Health Care Cliff” currently being faced in the USA. And Surprise cover star Tobias Urech talked about standing up for gay rights.

Popular culture always makes for popular covers too. UK music icon Morrissey made it to the front page of The Big Issue (UK). Aussie comedy duo Hamish & Andy feature on a dual-cover edition of The Big Issue Australia, ten years after their first cover appearance. And The Contributor turned the spotlight to Nashville’s local podcasts, which are now gaining national media attention.
