Fab Feb Front Pages: A round-up of this month’s street paper covers

February can see slow sales for street paper vendors, with poor weather and fewer potential customers out on the streets.

Our annual #VendorWeek celebrations take place the first week of February, raising awareness of our vendors at a quieter time of the year. You can read about what street papers got up to for #VendorWeek 2020 here.

Eye-grabbing street paper covers are important at any time of year, but especially so during the winter months. Take a look at the front page highlights we’ve seen during February…

Cover Highlights:

#VendorWeek is an important date on the street paper calendar, so it’s only fitting to see vendors appearing front and centre on some of the street paper covers around the world this month. The Big Issue Australia published a special Vendor Edition, with Brisbane vendor Lenny on the cover, and ran their annual week of CEO Selling events during #VendorWeek. Toledo Streets awarded their Vendor of the Year to Shaun “Rooster” Tinch, who posed proudly for the cover of their latest edition. And Real Change leapt into the Leap Year with a cover dedicated to tomorrow’s Leap Day, and a photo collage inside of vendors and staff performing their best leap on camera!

The February staples of Valentine’s Day and the Academy Awards inspired some impressive covers this month. StreetWise returned with their popular annual feature where their vendors review this year’s Oscar-nominated films. Shedia produced a “love” edition, with an article on male sex workers and an interview with a relationship psychiatrist. And The Curbside Chronicle brought us a crafty “Stories with Heart” cover featuring stories of love from the Curbside community.

It is always gratifying to see the INSP News Service in action, as seen here with the republication of The Big Issue (UK)‘s article about Mr. Jones screenwriter Andrea Chalupa as the cover story for both Streetvibes and Street Roots. The story can be read in full here.

Look back on our covers series here, and keep an eye out for the next round-up coming soon.
