A round-up of November’s street paper covers

As the festive season approaches and we prepare to open the first door of our advent calendars, time to take a look back at the street paper covers that have been sold by our vendors in 34 countries around the world during November.

As ever, there’s been some fantastic front pages produced by our members this month, and we’ve rounded up some of the highlights below.

Some of these papers have also made their way to our office to become part of the ever-growing #INSPArchive – the largest collection of street papers anywhere in the world! If you’re from a street paper and would like to make sure your publication is featured in our archive, drop us an email and we’ll send you the details.

Cover Highlights:

Several street papers went for themes of prison and punishment on their front pages this month. Kupfermuckn‘s cover story was about life behind bars. Asphalt led with a story about youths in jail. And Street Roots revealed the crushing weight of fines on the poorest people in Oregon.

Street papers have been getting hands on and up close and personal with some of their covers this month too. The Big Issue Australia launched their cashless revolution, with customers now able to purchase from vendors via card and the Beem It app. StreetWise got into the Christmas spirit early, with a guide to Chicago’s Holiday Markets and local gift ideas. And Surprise took a look at the history of Kosovo, and how the country’s economic situation is causing problems today.

November 19th saw the celebration of International Men’s Day, drawing attention to male mental health and positive male role models. Some great gentlemen have graced the front pages of street papers this month as well. Big Issue North featured film heavyweight Robert De Niro as their cover star. The Big Issue Japan looked back at the career of musician Elvis Costello. And The Curbside Chronicle interviewed up-and-coming songwriter Charley Crockett, from his beginnings as a street busker to touring across the USA.

Look back on our covers series here, and keep an eye out for the Christmas round-up of covers coming at the end of December.
